Talking about facial care for may seem a strange topic and unimportant to some men. Facial care for men isn’t a new fad but something that has been routinely practiced for thousands of years. (...)

Talking about facial care for may seem a strange topic and unimportant to some men. Facial care for men isn’t a new fad but something that has been routinely practiced for thousands of years. From the Egyptian Pharaohs to the times of the Roman emperors, facial grooming has been an important part of a men’s daily custom. Thankfully these days, there are far more products than simply lip balm and aftershave available. More and more men are coming to realize the importance of skin care to them. Men now have an enormous range of choices for face care and grooming along with the beauty products for women. A complete facial care regimen for men requires daily gentle cleansing, an occasional deep cleansing mask and the regular use of moisturizers.

Facial Care for Men Made Easy

First of all, it should be obvious that men cannot follow the same facial care program for women. Facial skin care should be differently designed for men and women. The most significant difference is that men shave. A man’s skin though more sensitive, is thicker and oilier than a woman’s skin. For this reason alone, using products formulated for women will not be beneficial at all. A man should use products especially formulated for men, whether he has a full beard or do shave only once a week.

Basic Face Care

Facial Cleanser – Soap dries the skin so a man needs something that will break down the grit and grime he has accumulated during the day without drying the skin. He needs to clean his face in the morning, before shaving and before going to bed. Basically masques are deep cleansers.

Shave gel or cream – these products provide the necessary barrier between the razor and the skin. Avoid those that contain foaming soap agents because again, these types dry the skin without providing adequate lubrication. Poor shaving creams can result into many shaving irritations. A man who has a tough beard or sensitive skin should consider using pre-shave oil too.

Post-shave balm/cream/gel -Many men don’t apply this product although this is indeed a very important step. It moisturizes cools and calms the skin especially after the harsh impact of shaving.

Intermediate Face Care

Moisturizer – For those days when a man doesn’t shave, he needs a separate facial moisturizer. He also needs to apply it after exposure to water, heat, or wind. Moisturizing is an essential step to keep skin looking always young and fresh.

Scrub or exfoliator – scrubbing or exfoliating facial skin gives way to a smoother shave and minimizes the chances of getting ingrown hairs. It helps to get rid of all those dead skin cells and results to smoother and fresher skin. Exfoliating can be done 2-3 times a week before shaving. It also act as a cleanser so there is no need for a separate facial cleanser.

Advanced Face Care

Toner – A good looking face needs a toner. Toners are used to cleanse and tighten facial pores and to remove any grime and dirt that was lifted but not wiped away for cleansing or shaving. A toner should be used after shaving and before the aftershave balm. On non-shaving days, a toner can be sued after cleansing and before using a moisturizer.

Mask – This is used once a week especially for those who have large pores or oily skin. It absorbs excess oils, remove impurities from the skin and tighten the pores and as such, masks can be more beneficial to a man than to a woman.

Any man will improve his skin’s appearance through deep cleansing and improved circulation to the skin. His skin will become clear after the first few massages so be prepared for a relatively short period of outbreaks after the first two massages. After this, he will be pleased with the clean and clear appearance of his skin.

Aromatherapy
Pursuing the pleasures of being young takes sometimes takes a toll at our physical attributes. (...)

Aromatherapy

Pursuing the pleasures of being young takes sometimes takes a toll at our physical attributes. Youth is that stage in life where a person possesses a huge amount of vitality, attraction and health. Though it is a passing period that soon goes away, many people want to preserve their youth by using cosmetics or physical alterations of their body just to prolong their younger looking days.

Not all methods though are simple and natural. Most of them involve complex and synthetic elements that in the end may compromise the integrity of your skin. We must look for one that is natural and simple enough so any one with the right purpose and ability can do. One of these methods that use nature as its basis is aromatherapy, where essential oils are massaged onto the face.

An experience in having an aromatherapy massage will help take the stress marks off your face. It has a soothing effect that releases your anxiety and irritability which causes you to frown and thus cause lines in the face.

Aerobics Facial Workout

Believe it or not, our face needs aerobic training too. You can boost circulation, improve muscle tone and release the tension building up your face by going through a series of contracting and relaxing the muscles on your neck and face.

You can try the exercises outlined in our ebook, Facial Care, to tighten facial muscles and look relaxed and fit.

Traditional Chinese Facial Exercises

These facial exercises are quite simple to perform and will benefit your facial muscles when done at regular schedules. They allow you:
1. To enhance your facial appearance by relaxing and toning your facial muscles and improving local blood flow.
2. To relieve common problems like headache, insomnia, nasal congestion, sinusitis and sore eyes.
3. As a preventative therapy for the above kinds of problems.

The methods listed here include face massage and acupressure techniques, involving the areas around the eyes, ears and nose. It is important to check with your health professional first before executing any new exercises or techniques, especially if you have a history of face, neck or head problems.

There are dozens of acupressure points on the face, and many massage techniques. However, all you need to get started is the five common acupressure points and two massage techniques explained here.

Read the full explanation of traditional Chinese facial exercises on our ebook, Facial Care.

What we have dealt with so far were issues involving women. However, men have been known too, to seek facial skin care programs that would help them have the best facial skin possible, much like the same reason for women.

anti aging diet

Any healthy skin care program should include a healthy skin diet. (...)

Any healthy skin care program should include a healthy skin diet. It wouldn’t matter whatever skin care product you apply to your skin or any cosmetic surgery you do to your face and make it more youthful looking, supple, radiant, if the skin you so try to beautify on the outside is not nourished and taken care of from the inside. Your skin will always be wanting and will fail to look as beautiful as you want it to be.

As with any healthy diet program, you must consider food for healthy skin in the same way. You must avoid processed food, lots of sugar and preservatives. You wouldn’t want to spend a lot on caring for your outward appearance while skimping on your inner self. Do not be swayed by claims of a product being great for your skin or fad diets that work for some people, but may be detrimental to your overall health.

You can do a lot to take care of your body not just by cosmetic manipulation but also by carefully selecting what you eat. You need to incorporate foods into your diet that will make your skin care regimen that will complement with your whole body to produce a naturally beautiful skin.

Anti-aging Food

Aging is one factor that determines the health of your skin. No one can stop the aging process but you can do steps to slow it down and reduce its damaging effects and the obvious physical manifestation. It is therefore important to consider which food can you eat that can help delay the effects of aging on your skin.

Referring to food as anti-aging might sound too good to be true. But consider this: it is has been studied and found out that many of the life threatening disease suffered by aging people are the effects of an unhealthy lifestyle and poor diet when they were young. From this point of view, any foods that are part of a healthy diet can be seen as anti-aging foods. There are foods that promote a healthy body and there are foods that can cause physical stress. It is possible to have an anti-aging diet.

Foods to avoid in anti-aging diet

The most important step you can do at this point is to decrease the intake of saturated fats. As per recommendation of the American Heart Association fat should not exceed 30 percent of your total energy. For a real anti-aging nutrition the number is about 10 percent. That means that for protein it is better to consume lean fish rather than meat.

Some anti-aging advocates suggest a completely vegetarian diet. However, it has not been scientifically proven that avoiding meat all together leads to longer and healthier life. However, go for lean varieties if you have to eat meat.

Everybody knows that junk food is bad for anybody, but most people still keep eating it anyway. If you seriously want to keep nutritious diet, you should restrict yourself from chips and other “empty-calories” stuff.

Saturated fats are not the only thing to avoid. Some studies have shown that foods high in carbohydrates also lead to cell degeneration. High concentration of heavy metals in your food also leads to premature aging.

The best anti-aging foods

Eating anti aging foods may seem like a drastic step to take and a difficult task to fulfill. However, many people soon find out that out of eating such food, they have come to experience an increase of sense of wellbeing and from there come to enjoy eating those foods that helps them to feel good and have the skin they have always wanted.

Beauty is both what we see outside and how we feel inside. We cannot neglect or separate what we eat from what we want to be.

Scalp Exercise
Exercising your scalp muscles is a good way to lift the eyebrows and give a general lift to the upper face area. (...)

Scalp Exercise

Exercising your scalp muscles is a good way to lift the eyebrows and give a general lift to the upper face area.

The scalp exercise will not form horizontal and vertical lines in the forehead. In fact, it will probably get rid of the lines that already may be there.

When you do the scalp exercise correctly, your frontalis and occipitalis muscles will become pliable. You will no longer have that fixed rigid appearance on your forehead. It is that fixed rigidity that contributes to the formation of deep lines.

Doing the scalp exercise correctly means getting the full alternate contraction of both the frontalis and occipitalis muscles. When you finally gain control of the occipitals, you will get an additional benefit. A strong, toned-up occipitalis pulls up and back on the upper face, smoothing out any horizontal or vertical lines that may have been in the forehead. This will also give you higher eyebrows. Low eyebrows and drooping hooded eyelids are one of the first signs of aging. These signs of age will be postponed or even reversed when you develop the occipitalis muscles.

Do the exercise for about five minutes - sometimes more, sometimes less. You'll have to determine for yourself what works and feels comfortable, but don't opt for the easy way out. Doing a few delicate moves won't get the job done.

If you practice scalp exercise correctly and often, you will gain another benefit: your hair will look more luxuriant. This side effect won't be obvious for many months to come though. It takes a long period for the hair follicles to react to any type of stimulation because they need to pass through the various stages of the hair cycle. Give it about six or eight months.

Facial exercises do not take much time and they are economical which helps in achieving healthy and glowing skin

Read the full explanation of the scalp exercises and other quick facial exercises on our ebook, Facial Exercise.

Facial Exercise To Tone The Face Muscles

There are several benefits to doing facial exercises: It stimulates blood flow and circulation, relieves tension and improves overall appearance of the face

It is normal for facial muscles to become saggy, slack and baggy. Facial exercises will keep your skin smooth, toned and wrinkle free. They will help you fight the signs of aging and develop youthful and blemish free skin.

One way to do facial exercises is to simply massage your face using your bare hands. You can start by stroking your face across the cheeks and over your forehead.

You can also use facial masks to tone your facial muscles. These masks help in the tightening of the skin and make the skin healthier while stopping the onset of wrinkles. You can also try applying protective creams to further boost your healthy skin.

These exercises are meant to enhance our facial skin but just like any other exercise for other body parts, you need to do them diligently and regularly. Otherwise they won’t be as effective as they were meant to be.

Doing facial exercises does more than a lot of good for the muscles of the face. It also helps the skin that’s on top of the cushion the muscles provide. (...)

Doing facial exercises does more than a lot of good for the muscles of the face. It also helps the skin that’s on top of the cushion the muscles provide. When facial muscles contract during exercise and workout, the skin experiences an increased blood flow which brings nutrients to the skin. Oxygen is carried to the cells and toxins that may cause inflammation and blemishes are removed.

The facial muscles are directly attached to the skin covering them. Because of age and gravity, these facial muscles start to lose their elasticity and tone. This leads to a condition where the skin attached to the facial muscles start to sag. The resulting image of the face is certainly not one that you would like to stare at you reflected on a mirror.

With regular facial exercises, the facial muscles increase in strength and tone. This results into the skin becoming smoother and younger looking. What you want to achieve in exercising your facial muscles is to develop a facial expression that will give off a pleasing impression.

You might surprise yourself that after sometime, you will notice a natural and permanent lifting of the muscles and skin of the face, giving you more confidence and fulfillment.

Facial exercises work, especially if combined with a very balanced diet. Never eat junk food because it will make you gain more than you trying to lose and firm up.

Facial Care Exercises:

Neck and Throat: There is nothing nice about a creepy looking neck with loose skin hanging around, and fold on fold of tired looking skin. There are exercises that will help relieve and prevent a double chin, loose skin in the neck and throat area and will also assist in toning these muscles.

Cheek: Our poor cheeks always seem to get a raw deal - they are forever ignored and not much time spent on them. Hanging skin forming that hang-dog look around your cheeks can be most aging. You can find facial exercises to lift and firm the cheeks as well to assist with that anti-aging and ageless look in our ebook.

Chin: Neck and chin normally betray the real age of the woman. But there is a natural method of getting rid of double chin and making the neck more beautiful, which is free, but effective. This method is facial exercise that specifically targets the chin.
Everyone can correct the form and size of their chin by doing facial exercises. The secret of these exercises is that they strengthen the muscles, lift the skin and reduce under-chin fat.

Jaws: There are exercises that can help relax the muscles and increase mobility in the jaw joints. These can be done when symptoms are mild or non-existent. Do not do these when pain is moderate to severe, instead the jaw should be rested as much as possible during these more painful episodes.

Forehead: Your forehead is one of the places where lines and wrinkles easily form, and permanent frown marks can also form between your eyebrows. It is best to be aware when you are frowning while working, reading or watching TV as this type of permanent frowning will lead to wrinkles forming.

Lips: A lot of women resort to a surgical solution to enlarge their lips, so that they look more attractive. Males are indeed attracted to beautiful lips. However not every woman can afford a lip enlargement operation. The fact is, any woman can make men’s heads go wild over the beauty of her lips without surgical interventions.

Eyes: The skin around the eye is the thinnest and most fragile skin found on the body, and wrinkles in this area causes great aging of the face, as the eyes are the central point of focus when people talk to you. Bags under the eyes also do great disservice to your looks, creating an uncared for look. Baggy eyes can be helped with certain facial eye exercises and effective skincare gels can go to some lengths to effectively remove this problem. Droopy eyelids can benefit greatly from ageless anti-aging facial exercises.

Good facial skin care can help you be genuinely happy and have a strong confident outlook in life. (...)

Good facial skin care can help you be genuinely happy and have a strong confident outlook in life. Devoting a few minutes a day is all you need to make sure that the face you show to the world makes a very good first impression. There are a lot of options open for any individual to maintain their physical appearance.

To have healthy skin, it is important to do exercise and eat a proper diet. Regular exercise allows the body to get rid of toxins through sweating. A shower after sweating will help clear out the pores and let the skin breathe properly. To date, no scientific studies support the correlation between diet and acne but it will do you no harm to eat the recommended number of servings of fruits and vegetables daily so you can keep your entire system in good working order.

Aging

Our skin goes through several phases of change with age. Aging gives rise to thinning of the dermis and the epidermis, as well as the underlying fat too. This decrease in volume and overall efficiency of all the three skin layers results to the skin losing some of its elasticity and becomes drier as the production of sebum decrease too. Nerve endings in the skin decrease too, thus diminishing sensation as well. The skin will have less ability to respond to heat exposure due to the decrease of the number of sweat glands and blood vessels.

With age, the skin also loses some protection against ultraviolet radiation because of reduced number of melanocytes. These changes brought about by age make the skin more vulnerable to damage and slower ability to heal itself.

Wrinkles

Wrinkles are also known as rhytides. They are folds or creases in the skin that are the results of loss of elasticity and skin turgor associated with aging and extended daily exposure to the UV rays of the sun. Fine wrinkles refer to those that are 1mm in width and dept, while coarse wrinkles are those that are wider and deeper.

Wrinkles are changes related to aging. However, it is also affected significantly by your lifestyle and can be caused also by exposure to the sun and smoking. You can reduce your tendency to develop wrinkles if you limit your sun exposure and totally avoid smoking.

Sun Damage

Damage from the sun, also known as photo damage, results to most of the skin changes people commonly associate with aging. When exposed for a long time, the sun’s ultraviolet radiation is responsible for fine and coarse wrinkles, irregular pigmentation, brown and red spots (“liver” spots or lengitines), and the rough texture of the skin. There are two types of UV rays, namely: UVA and UVB. UV light damages the elastin and causes the skin to sag, stretch and lose its capability to snap back to form after stretching. UVB rays affect the surface of the skin and are the main cause of sunburns. Sun damage also causes the skin to bruise and tear easily and takes longer for the healing process to be completed. Sun damage is not immediately apparent especially during the younger years.

Expression Lines

Expression lines are the results of repeated movements made by muscles in the skin. They usually appear as small creases on the skin’s outer surface. The crease is the point where there is loss of collagen and elastic tissue. If an expression line persists even when your face is rested, your collagen and elastic tissue appear to have been damaged already. The folds, creases, grooves, ridges that make up the expression lines are indeed a problem for people who want to maintain their youthful looks.

The skin on your face is its armor that protects it from the elements. The first step to taking care of it is preventing damage. (...)

The skin on your face is its armor that protects it from the elements. The first step to taking care of it is preventing damage. A lot of environmental factors such as sun, wind, pollutants contribute to most skin problems. Common skin problems include dry and itchy skin, sagging, wrinkles, age spots and color changes. Fortunately there are steps you could take to make your skin looking and feeling its best and keep it that way.

In order to determine how to deal with your skin problem it is important to identify which skin type you have so that the appropriate facial skin care regimen can be applied.

Oily skin

One way to identify oily skin is the shine it produces on the skin. It is shiny, thick and dull colored. Chronically oily skin is prone to black heads, acne and other upsetting blemishes. Oily skin looks and feels very greasy with coarse texture and large, visible pores.

Skin care plan: The greatest advantage of having oily skin is that this type ages at a slower rate that the other skin types. Soap and water can help clean the skin and using a cleansing bar is a good way to care for it. Your purpose in keeping your oily skin clean is to kill acne-causing bacteria.

Dry Skin

Dry skin produces low level of sebum and tends to be sensitive. It has a parched look because of its inability to retain moisture. Dry skin has the look of being dry, sometimes flaky and most often feels tight, especially after being washed with soap and water. It has a papery and thin texture containing fine pores. There are times that it lacks sebum that helps protect the skin. This results to skin tightening during very hot and very cold weather. It is easily chapped and cracked in a dry atmosphere.

Skin care plan: This skin type requires special facial skin care products like creamy cleansers and not soap. Mild, alcohol-free make up and toner, and a rich, creamy cleanser are your best bet in caring for this type of skin. You need to moisturize your face daily. Include the throat and the skin surrounding the eyes.

Combination skin

Most people have this type of skin. There is an oily center area or a T-zone across the forehead, nose and chin. There are dry areas on the cheeks, and around the eyes and neck. One area may be flaky and dry and another area might be oily and prone to breakouts of acne. This skin type has medium pores, a smooth and even texture, good circulation, healthy color.

Skin care plan: The ideal regimen should be a dual approach: treat the oily areas with products for oily skin and treat the dry areas with products for dry skin. However, this is expensive and unnecessary unless the dry and oily areas are very different. You can use a skin cleanser for the central oily part, and use it diluted with water for the drier areas. You may have to do experiments to find out if the drier areas need or not frequent moisturizing.

Other things to consider besides the basic skin types:

Climate: this is most important if you live in an extremely dry or humid area. The moisture or lack of it in the air, can definitely affect your skin. Changing from one climate zone to another may require a change in your facial care regiment.

Age: along with the rest of the body, skin changes with age. Wrinkles, dryness, sunspots or even acne may occur. Their presence may require different strategies in facial care.

Sun exposure: requires daily monitoring and protection with sunscreen. Many facial moisturizers and sunscreens have ingredients for this purpose. This makes it easier to apply as part of your daily beauty maintenance schedule.

Caring for your facial skin is not based on a whim; it should run all through your life. Your skin care plan may need to be altered over time due to the effects of aging and the environment on your skin.

Each face is composed of an extremely complex set of features which includes the hair, forehead, eyes, eyebrow, ears, nose, mouth, cheeks, lips, teeth, chin and skin. (...)

Each face is composed of an extremely complex set of features which includes the hair, forehead, eyes, eyebrow, ears, nose, mouth, cheeks, lips, teeth, chin and skin. The face is also where most of our senses are located such as the sense of smell, taste, hearing and seeing.

The skin of the face is in need of more attention than the rest of the body. This is because the face has more oil glands, concentrated in the central forehead, eye areas, chin and nose. You need to perform a brief morning facial care regimen and a longer one before sleeping.

Facial skin changes continuously. It evolves from the fresh, new and fine textured skin of the newborn into the wrinkling, sagging and weathered skin of old age. There are major factors that influence and affect our facial skins. These are hormone changes, amount of exposure to the sun, and time. The effects of these factors however depend on the genes we have inherited.

Heredity plays a significant role in how our skin ages. It is already encoded into our individual DNA, which determines our own personal biological clock. No matter our skin care habits, the genes we inherited will dictate our looks as we age. The good news however, is that aside from using bioengineered beauty products, we can alter our inherited skin features by eating better, doing the right exercise and properly caring for and protecting our skin. We now have control over how old or young our skin looks.
The skin’s structure is identical on every part of the body. Variations occur according to where it is and how it functions. Facial skin in particular is adapted to monitor temperature changes and atmospheric conditions.

Skin Types

There are four skin types and each one may need different approaches to achieve health. It is very important to apply the correct skin care procedure for each one.

a. Normal skin - has the proper balance between oil and moisture. It looks clear, healthy and supple. It still needs good skin care but needs less treatment that other skin types.
b. Dry skin - cannot retain moisture and it may flake. It is prone to lines and wrinkles. Needs regular use of moisturizer.
